In central and east Africa, drum rhythms directly correspond to the syllables and stresses of their tribal languages, and have been used to communicate with others over a long distance. We at Philly Drum Project know that drumming is a shared experience, and creativity is sometimes dependent on community. We want to create an environment in which drummers can hang out and play.
